U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic
Twenty-five year old Sebastian Haedo (Colavita Olive Oil/Sutter Home) took first place today in the 2008 Men’s Pro Race in an exhilarating sprint to the finish in the last seconds of the three hour and twenty-seven minute race.

Stars ride bikes to assist wounded veterans

Mike Vogel became a movie star by playing a hero in the 2007 hit horror film Cloverfield, which focuses on a group of friends in New York City trying to survive what the studio calls "the most surreal, terrifying event of their lives."
Now Vogel, along with a coalition that includes pro cycling legends, veterans advocates and the Pentagon, is working to help wounded military heroes.
He is the chairman of the Department of Veterans Affairs' National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans and is participating in a series of "Road 2 Recovery" bike rides across the country to assist wounded veterans as they leave the military and begin rehabilitation.
"The first day of production on Cloverfield, I got the news that a cousin had been killed in Iraq," says Vogel, an avid cyclist. "I knew that I had to do something to help."
He didn't have to look far. His Los Angeles neighbor, John Wordin, is a former pro cyclist and team owner. Wordin was already working on a plan to help the VA improve its cycling facilities for disabled vets.
